Curaçao Chamber Takes Caribbean Leadership Role in New Hemispheric Council
The Curaçao Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a founding member of the newly established Council of Chambers of Commerce of the Americas (CCCAM). Chamber President Raoul Behr has been elected Vice President for the Caribbean, giving Curaçao a seat on the Council’s
eleven-member Board.
The CCCAM held its first General Assembly in Bogotá, bringing together 36 Chambers of Commerce from more than 16 countries. The Curaçao Chamber contributed to the preparatory work that led to the Council’s establishment. Ovidio Claros Polanco, Executive President of the
Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, was unanimously elected Council President.
For Curaçao’s entrepreneurs, the Council offers a wider network of business contacts across the Caribbean and the Americas. Its approved 2026–2027 work plan includes business matchmaking, trade missions, market intelligence initiatives and a Value Chains Working Group. The Council also plans a regional Business Climate Barometer, while work on women’s economic empowerment
has been proposed.
The Chamber’s role will be to bring Curaçao’s perspective to these discussions and help turn new connections into practical opportunities for local businesses. As a founding member and Caribbean Vice President, it can help shape the Council’s agenda while connecting entrepreneurs
with potential partners and markets throughout the hemisphere.
