On June 8, 2024, by National Decree, the country established a register of ultimate beneficial owners and stakeholders (Ultimate Beneficial Owner, UBO register) with the aim of safeguarding the integrity of the financial system and, in that context, combating tax crimes and
fraud, as well as terrorism financing, money laundering, and corruption.
In order to promote transparency in this regard, it is necessary to have insight into the ultimate beneficial owners, the UBOs, of legal entities, partnerships, trusts, and similar legal
arrangements, all referred to as “entities.”
By establishing a UBO register, the necessary transparency, as recommended by the Financial
Action Task Force of the OECD, is ensured in Curaçao.
The National Decree stipulates that for existing bodies that were already registered in the trade register at the time this law came into force (as of June 7, 2024), the mandatory submissions to the UBO register must be made within twelve months after the first day of the month following
the date the national decree came into force.
Entities have therefore already had time to comply with this obligation; the deadline is thus
September 30th, 2025. More info click here.
