A new currency will be introduced on March 31, 2025. The Caribbean guilder consists of 5 banknotes and 7 coins. The currency will be introduced in the monetary union of Curaçao and Sint Maarten. The design of the new Caribbean guilder banknotes draws inspiration from the“ World Under the Sea”. The front of the banknotes depicts the vibrant marine life native to Curaçao and Sint Maarten, and symbolizes the unity of the two countries, while the reverse showcases significant historical and cultural landmarks of both countries. The coins have motifs of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, the orange blossom and the aquatic life. The coins come in two sets, marked with“ Curaçao” and“ Sint Maarten”, which are valid in both countries.
