FROM THE
CHAMBER BOARD
Chamber President Raoul Behr
Dear Visionary Entrepreneurs,
Imagine waking up tomorrow and realizing that everything we believed about economic growth was… incomplete. Not wrong, but only part of the story. Growth isn’t just about numbers—it’s about how we
grow.
At our recent Business Mixer, we explored Curaçao’s economic trajectory in a world undergoing rapid change. Global shifts—rising trade barriers, geopolitical instability, and technological advancements—present both challenges and opportunities. While our tourism and real estate sectors are thriving, these successes mask deeper concerns: affordability in housing, workforce shortages, and economic dependence on a single pillar. These are signals urging us to take strategic
action.
The Curaçao Chamber of Commerce & Industry firmly believes in shaping the future, not waiting for it. Six key areas demand our focus:
Reforming government spending to stimulate private sector growth.
Reducing bureaucracy and making Curaçao more attractive to investors and entrepreneurs.
Aligning education and immigration policies with the evolving job market.
Encouraging local production to reduce import dependency and increase resilience.
Implementing smart investment policies to drive sustainable, high-impact growth.
Reforming social security to ensure long-term economic stability.
We must ask ourselves: What kind of economy do we want? One that grows for the few, or one that is inclusive, resilient, and future-proof? Our choices today will define Curaçao’s economic landscape for generations to come.
As the Chamber, we are committed to steering this ship forward. The full speech from our Business Mixer, outlining this vision in detail, is available on our Facebook page. Let’s take the helm together.
