Successful last MEVAL info session organized by the Curaçao Chamber

Wrapping up before the review

In June this year, Curaçao received a visit from the evaluation committee of CFATF (Caribbean Financial Action Task Force), a body that evaluates how a country complies with international rules on money laundering and terrorist financing. (MEVAL: Mutual Evaluation). With a negative rating, we would face serious economic problems, restrictions in international transactions and a higher price of basic products. We must be prepared and informed to avoid disastrous consequences.

The result of the evaluation is of great importance and has an impact on the economy, the way the residents of Curaçao do business and in daily life. In the context of this evaluation, the Curaçao Chamber of Commerce & Industry has organized several information sessions for entrepreneurs in the sectors being evaluated and for all those interested in this subject. Several of the digital sessions can still be reviewed both in Papiamentu and English on the Curaçao Chamber Youtube channel .

The last information session on this subject took place recently. Mrs. Marjolaine Jardinier, together with Mr. Russel Ursula, provided an extensive presentation on the importance of the content and results of the evaluation. They concluded with a practical demonstration of a “mock interview” with a voluntary entrepreneur, so that those present could get an idea of how such an interview session takes place in practice.

The attendees were able to ask several questions, which the speakers answered in detail. After the presentation, the participating entrepreneurs had the opportunity to network with each other.

The Curaçao Chamber of Commerce & Industry will be organizing more interactive sessions like these to explore and discuss the opinions of entrepreneurs who are interested in paying attention to the economy of today and in the future. If you are a registered businessperson and would like to receive an invitation for the next session, follow our social media, or send us an email.
